What is Stigma?
The Cambridge Dictionary defines stigma as “a strong feeling of disapproval that most people in a society have about something, especially when this is unfair…” (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/stigma)
To make this complex concept accessible to all, let’s break it down using the “Explain it like I’m 5” principle.
Stigma is when people dislike someone or something about them. It might be how they look, their race, where they are from, their beliefs, or because they have a chronic illness or a disability. Stigma is not a positive feeling, and I want to help people who feel stigmatised to learn how to beat it. (Continued on LinkedIn)
